So I realised the other day that it's been nearly six months since I made a post on this blog. Quite a dry patch after the fairly regular posts I was managing at the start (although that was a pretty big backlog I had prepared). The Dark Eldar project was taking most of my hobby time, and considering I didn't want to keep working on them I wasn't devoting much time to the hobby, but it's finally done with, so I thought I would give you an update on what else I was doing.

The Dark Eldar Project - Complete!
It's finally over...
So I agreed to fix up and paint this army at least 12 months ago now, and it's been an interesting experience. I would have to say that commission work is not something I could do very often (and certainly not to a time schedule).

The Skorne Project - Part 3
Heres the third (and last for a while) Skorne update.
It took me a couple days of painting, but the entire Skorne force is now painted and ready to be based. I haven't come up with a specific basing idea yet, but it will most likely be a simple sand and flock method.
All lined up and ready to go |

The Skorne Project - Part 2
Here they are!
I went with a really simple method to paint these guys. At the moment I'm working on speed rather than technique, once I'm quicker I can work on more advanced methods.
These guys were done with Mechrite Red, Shining Gold, Mithril Silver, Tallarn Flesh, and Khemri Brown. Then we do a complete wash with Nuln Oil, Deneb Stone for the Front Arc on the base.
A pretty basic paint job, but it's fine for a tabletop quality, and it's getting very quick to do.
Also got the last few models built, that is the metal battle box Warbeasts and Dominar Rasheth.

The Dark Eldar Project - Part 5
The unbuilt pile is growing smaller and smaller...
And the unpainted pile gets bigger and bigger...
Anyway heres two of the new Ravager models all built and ready. I actually made a pretty big mistake, attaching the wrong piece to the center part. I used the Raiders piece rather than the Ravagers (which is required to attach the side mounted weapons). After some hacking and regluing I managed to get them fixed up.
I'm still kicking my self for building both at the same time, and subsequently making the same mistake on both models.

The Dark Eldar Project - Part 4
Now to give you guys a look at what happens when I try to convert something.
So my friends Dark Eldar were missing a Klaivex for the Incubi squad. Ofcourse we could just run them as a squad of 4 (its so nice not being limited to 5/10 men #SpaceMarineLists)...
Did I really just make a #something joke? oh dear...
Anyway, we have an extra Dark Eldar Lord model lying around. Since we already have the Archon that can 'counts as' whatever my friend needs I decided to do some conversion work on this Lord model.

The Dark Eldar Project - Part 3
Taking a change from all the building this time I finally got my first squad of Warriors painted.
My friend didn't have any particular preference for paint scheme so I decided to go with something easy. Mechrite Red armour, Mithril Silver metals, Knarloc Green eyes and poisons, cover the whole thing in Nuln Oil shade, and finish with a few quick highlights using the base colours. Extra colours included Iyanden Darksun for the hair pieces, and Hormaguant Purple for the Blaster weapon.

The Skorne Project - Part 1
In addition to the Dark Eldar I'm building and painting for me friend, I also agreed to work on his (thankfully) small Skorne force.
This... is a pile of bits... |
And this... is a slightly more organised pile of bits... |

The Dark Eldar Project - Part 2
Once I had the Warrior squads out of the way it was time to start working on the bigger stuff. The unpainted old raider was fun, my friend had glued the platforms on the sides upside down. Not only that, but he had used so much glue that there was no way I could detach it. Sawing and plastic gluing later and it still looks a bit wonky, but hey, at least the troops have somewhere to stand now.
The 'Fleet'. 3 old model Raiders and a lone new model. |

The Retribution of Scyrah Battle Box - Contents and Building
Its finally here!
Got my hands on the Retribution of Scyrah Battle Box, complete with plastic Light Myrmidons and plastic Kaelyssa. So lets see what we've got:
Four models to start our Retribution of Scyrah adventure:
When I first dabbled in RoS a few years ago I made a magnetized Manticore/Hydra. I've decided to use the Battle Box Heavy bits with my leftover pieces to make a Phoenix instead. So heres the Battle Box, all built and ready for painting:

2 Baggies, Cards, and the standard Quick Start Guide and mini No Quarter sample. |
This is a little neater. |
- Warcaster Kaelyssa, Night's Whisper
- Manticore Heavy Myrmidon
- Chimera Light Myrmidon
- Griffon Light Myrmidon
The pose is a big improvement on the metal Kaelyssa |
Heres a comparison with the metal Model. She's smaller now. |
The Chimera, I tried for a rushing pose. He's about to throw a punch. |
Damn camera focus... a comparison of the plastic and metal Light Myrmidons. |
Griffon. Trying for a shield raised defensive posture. |
Pretty intimidating I'd say. |

The Dark Eldar Project - Part 1
About 8 months ago (might even have been longer) I agreed to built and paint my friends Dark Eldar in exchange for his remaining Tyranids. I had wanted to start a Tyranid army at the time I thought it would be a pretty good trade...
I screwed myself over with this one.
So I had the models soaking in Simple Green for nearly 6 months (and it still didn't get the primer off) so now it's time to start getting this stuff done.
So before I soaked these guys I pulled them into as many pieces as I could, this left me with a huge job trying to clean them all up later. But thankfully, as of writing this, that's all done with. We are now at the stage of building everything and beginning to paint.
So heres a few starting pics to give you an idea:

The Battle Box also came with a Quick Start rules sheet to help new players get started.
The Battle Box, FoW: Cygnar book, Template Set and ofcourse some blue dice to match. |
Each model comes in its own little bag. |

Obligatory First Post
Hey guys, I'm Barodas and welcome to my wargaming blog. I suppose to start off I'll give a bit of an overview of my experiences in this little hobby of ours.
I started playing with Warhammer 40k around 3 1/2 years ago. A friend introduced me to the game, I bought an Assault on Black Reach set and some tanks/units and began my journey with Space Marines. I wasn't much of a painter and only got 8 models finished in my entire year and a half of gaming:
